FSC Updates Banned Chemical List

The Forest Stewardship Council® has updated the Indicators and Thresholds for the Identification of 'Highly Hazardous' Pesticides (FSC-STD-30-001 V1-0 EN). The updates and changes in the thresholds have removed several herbicides that were formally banned but have been approved for use in FSC® certified forests. Hexazinone, commonly trade named as Velpar, has been removed from the banned list because of the new thresholds.

Common forestry herbicides such as RoundUp, Garlon, and Arsenal are still all approved.

More infomation about the new thresholds and the list of banned chemicals can be found on FSC's website here.
